Frequently asked questions
What is NSDR?
NSDR stands for non-sleep deep rest: a guided practice that takes you into a state of deep rest while you stay awake, usually lying down and following a voice. It is closely related to yoga nidra.
Should I choose the day or the night version?
Choose the day version when you want to rest and then carry on with your day: it ends by gently bringing you back alert. Choose the night version in bed: there is no wake-up at the end, so you can drift into sleep.
Short or long version?
The short versions last about 18 minutes and the long ones about 25 minutes. Take the short one when time is tight and the long one when you can give yourself a deeper rest.
Is it OK to fall asleep while listening?
Yes. Many people do, and nothing is lost. If you need to be up at a given time, set an alarm before you press play.
Are these sessions really free?
Yes. You can listen on this page without an account. To keep a session, enter your email address and we send you a link to download the MP3.
Who recorded these sessions?
David Boulet, a certified hypnotherapist trained at the Hypnos Center in Montreal and in practice since 2009.
Is NSDR a treatment for insomnia or anxiety?
No. NSDR is a rest practice, not a medical or psychological treatment. If sleep problems last for weeks, or anxiety gets in the way of your days, talk to a doctor or a mental health professional.
